CHRIST (Deemed to be University) was born out of the educational vision of St Kuriakose Elias Chavara, an educationalist and social reformer of the nineteenth century in South India. He founded the first Catholic indigenous congregation, Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), in 1831 which administers CHRIST (Deemed to be University).CHRIST (Deemed to be University) was established as ‘Christ College’ in 1969. It undertook path-breaking initiatives in Indian higher education with the introduction of innovative and modern curricula, insistence on academic discipline, imparting of Holistic Education and adoption of global higher education practices with the support of creative and dedicated staff.

The Christ University Choir is a 120 plus member chorus with students from departments all across the Christ University Central Campus.

Christ University shaped my academic journey, sparking my interest in biomedical imaging and light-based technologies during my MTech project. This foundation led me to further research during my PhD at IIT Hyderabad and clinical collaborations during my Fulbright fellowship at the University of Rochester, USA. I continue to build upon this groundwork through postdoctoral research at the University of Twente and my current work at Erasmus Medical Center.
Achievements-applauds, opportunities-thoughts, this is what I gained from Christ University. The multi-cultural environment at Christ helped me build friends from different parts of the world and inculcated growth and dimension to my personality. The excellent infrastructure such as the advanced laboratories, excellent library with access to numerous digital journals helped me to make the process of learning here at Christ easier.
The institute gave me the right platform to nurture my calibre as a marketing student and develop strong analytic and interpersonal skills which did wonders for me in the placement selection tests. The institute’s holistic development approach had rightly proved that it can bring the desired result.
Stepping into Christ University in 2014 has undoubtedly been the turning point of my life that has helped me be the assertive individual I am now.
